In mid-April we sponsored and participated in the 12th edition of the Impact Summit Europe in Amsterdam, where industry leaders gathered to discuss key trends and innovations in impact investing, with a particular focus on blended finance solutions for institutional investors. Organised by Phenix Capital Group, this edition brought together more than 250 asset owners and 500 industry experts from the impact investing ecosystem.
Timothée Jaulin, Head of Responsible Investment Development and Advocacy, joined a panel discussion on "Blended structures that work for institutional investors", where he shared lessons learnt from past experiences with blended finance while reaffirming our commitment to advancing accessible impact investing solutions worldwide.
Key Takeaways:
In 2025, bilateral development aid fell by 26%, while the annual Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) financing gap in emerging markets is still estimated at between US$2.5 trillion and US$4 trillion.
Standardising fund structures and aligning the objectives of public and private actors can help scale blended finance sustainably.
Mobilising institutional investors for blended finance at scale can bring additionality through market creation and multiplier effects.
During the event, our delegation also engaged with asset owners and general partners (GPs) to discuss the potential of a digital platform aimed at simplifying access to impact investing for investors and supporting fund-raising for fund managers.
